Our class collaborated with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and in this partnership, we had the opportunity to visit the location twice for free. On top of that we were able to exhibit pieces that we created with our groups. In humanities, we looked at many different contemporary art pieces to give us an example about what kind of art we were able to exhibit. We watched many different videos about contemporary and what it meant to the artists. I was able to get my perspective of social isolation onto paper.
At first, our art piece looked like a big sign on the side of the road because we wanted to symbolize the warning signs of different mental health topics. We would have a mirror in the middle with the words "Objects in mirror may appear healthier that they appear". Once we got feedback from Ms. Luisa, we realized that we were playing too much on the aspect of signs. We wanted to switch the message from signs to perspective. We scrapped the idea of the sign and moved onto mirrors and our second draft. Once we got our second round of critique, we decided to keep the idea and go with it so our final product ended up looking exactly how we planned. |
